Duck Drumstick Mee Suah @ Sg. Pinang ; Penang Hawker Food

It was a cloudy Sunday morning and we were out to hunt for our breakfast. Our initial intention was Beef Koay Teow @ Chulia Street. But when we are on our way there, the crowds and the hawker stalls stretching along Jalan Sungai Pinang attracted us. So, we decided to stop by and had our breakfast there.

After we were seated, N told me that this place is famous for its duck drumstick mee suah. Hehe… without a second thought, I ordered a bowl of mee suah. But to my disappointment, duck drumstick had sold out. :( . So I changed to duck meat instead.

The soup base was very rich with herbs taste. Some wolfberries (kei chi) and dong guai were cooked together with the soup base and mee suah. The soup base tasted sweet and the mee suah was cooked  at the right timing where it’s not too soft.

The only drawback was the duck meat tasted pretty bland. But this is normal in a bowl of mee suah I guess as the duck meat in drumstick mee suah I had at someother place also tasted bland. :P

N ordered Fried Bihun with Fried Fish Fillet.

The fried bihun tasted good with adequate wok hei. The fried fish fillet just tasted normal. My preferance is still the one in fried fish fillet bihun soup at opposite Red Rock Hotel at Macalister Road which tasted so crispy outside and so tender inside.

I think I prefer the one in Chai Leng Park. This one it’s like over sell like that… soup base isn’t that great.
