Finally after about an hour of boat ride, we were entering the Phluk Village.

The villagers travel by boat.

The further we’re into the village, we started to see land. But all these land will be flooded with water during certain season when the water level in Tonle Sap lake rises.

They grow their own vegetables for own consumption and also for sale. Just enough to support their poor living.

Traditional way of grinding was seen here. What a sight!

During my visit to Phluk Village, I feel so devastated to see the lifestyle of the Phluk Villagers. Their house is so small and no electricity and water available. Have you ever wonder what kind of water source they’ll use?
They actually use the water from the Tonle Sap lake for bathing, washing and even drinking. The Tonle Sap water is muddy in colour. OMG~~~
The children are poorly dressed and the villagers have very limited awareness of cleaniness and health.

The children are so happy to see us visitors snapping pictures here and there.

Baby was seen playing on the sand which is so dirty.

At the end of the village, there’s a well donated by a foreigner. They need to pump for the clean water. Seen here is a child demonstrating to us how to pump the water.

Boat is their main transportation when the water level rises.

Wonderful! Lovely pics too Allie. Why blur out the peeps?
Anyway, for lok lak, you should try the ones run by the locals, meaning those small stalls where only locals go, thats where I ate my lok lak. It was so different compared to the tourist restaurant or hotel style

Bee,
You can actually plan a trip to Siem Reap, it’s worth seeing especially the village and the lifestyle of the people. The temples definitely worth visiting too!

Very nice pictures…. it tells everything. I’d been there few years back and I enjoy the food and sightseeing but not the thick red dust.

Have been a few years since I was in Cambodia. Looks like the tourist infrastructure has improved looking at the quality of the quality and pricing. The Tune Hotel looks quite good for transit.
