Those children seems like lack of nutritions.

Man was seen repairing their fishing net.

After the walk along Phluk Village, off we ride our boat to Tonle Sap Lake to view the sunset. This is the view from our boat. Does it actually looks like a lake to you? I actually feel that I’m in the middle of a sea with strong waves.
Our boat driver had to tied a rope from our boat to the mangroove trees to prevent our boat being swept away by the strong waves.

The sunset view from our boat, but too bad the cloud is too thick hide away the sun from us

Our tour guide brought us to Banteay Srey Restaurant which serves local food. He ordered a few dishes for us.

This dish is similar to our Malay food; Ulam (raw vege to be eaten with sambal). There are some pork and raw vege (aubergine, cucumber, four season bean, ginger, etc) to be served with sauce.
The sauce tasted sweet and salty to me.

Prawn salad which is similar to our kerabu.

Amok Fish – a popular dish in Cambodia which is similar to our seafood otak-otak.

Chicken sour soup – it tasted sour without any sweetness of chicken in it.

We were served with some desserts at the end of the dinner. It’s some coconut juice jelly which tasted tad too sweet. It cost us USD 24 for the dinner of 5 pax.
Overall, I found that the food didn’t really suits my tastebud.

We are exhausted by the end of the day and we decided to rest early as we’ll be going for sunrise viewing at Angkor Wat the next morning. Stay tune for Day 2 itinerary.

Wonderful! Lovely pics too Allie. Why blur out the peeps?
Anyway, for lok lak, you should try the ones run by the locals, meaning those small stalls where only locals go, thats where I ate my lok lak. It was so different compared to the tourist restaurant or hotel style

Bee,
You can actually plan a trip to Siem Reap, it’s worth seeing especially the village and the lifestyle of the people. The temples definitely worth visiting too!

It’s definitely a typo error which should be 29/07/09. Thanks for correcting

Very nice pictures…. it tells everything. I’d been there few years back and I enjoy the food and sightseeing but not the thick red dust.

Have been a few years since I was in Cambodia. Looks like the tourist infrastructure has improved looking at the quality of the quality and pricing. The Tune Hotel looks quite good for transit.
