Spicy and Sour Fish Bihun @ Sg. Ara

Recently I’m being advise by my doctor that I should avoid eating those char koay teow, curry mee and fried food due to some health issue. Even chocolate! Gosh! How can I ever avoid eating chocolate? Sigh… no more fun and excitement already! :(

Since I love food with heavy taste, and now my diet is limited to those food in ‘healthy category’,  I have to hunt for something with exotic flavour to excite my tastebud.

A bowl of Sour and Spicy Bihun Soup with adequate amount of greens and tomatoes should be able to do the tricks. ;)

You can choose to have fried fish fillet or slice fish fillet or fish head to be included in the bihun soup. I’d always prefer mine to have fried fish fillet as it’s more fragrant. Although it’s fried, but it’s not oily. So I guess I still can continue consuming it right? *wink*

Hot, spicy and sour soup flowing in my throat and into stomach. Such a warm feeling. Consume more soup and you’ll feel drops of sweats starting to flowing down from head to cheeks. :)

This is similar to the one at Wang Chao Jun except that this isn’t serve in a claypot. After we finished our meal only I realized that they sell steamed hor fun with fish. I’m definitely coming back here to try out the steamed hor fun with fish. Wonder if it’s as good as Wang Chao Jun’s.

My bf ordered oyster noodle which came flooded with gravy. Hmm… the gravy is too plain and actually there’s not much taste.

Both of us still prefer the Oyster noodle at Song River which is much more flavorful.

During normal weekdays lunch time, the waiting time could be as long as 45mins – 1hr. I was lucky that day, went there around 11am++ on Saturday and only waited for 15minutes. When the clock strikes 12pm, customers starts to fill in the restaurant.

Other than these 2 dishes, there a quite a variety of food available leg. chu char type of dishes and fried rice or fried noodle.

Business hour: From morning till 2pm. Closed on Tuesday

Oh I had this before a few times when I was back in Penang! My hubby loved it very much, but the waiting time can be long especially during weekday lunch hours. And after the meal, we sure sweat like nobody’s business! LOL

Hope you are fully recovered by now.

I went to this place last year at the recommendation of a friend. I tasted the dried fried hor fun and the sour & spicy beehoon soup that you had and also some chu char dishes of tua kua fried with siew bak, and fried chicken wings. Overall I find the food just average.
