What happen when a group of foodies get together? It’ll be eat, eat and eat! It was a fun gathering where a few of us eat till our stomach were so full. This kind of gathering definitely cannot happen always, else I’ll for sure I’m gonna expand sideway.

Inaka Japanese Restaurant the gathering venue of that day.

Since a member of us keep on promoting the sashimi at this restaurant, we definitely can’t miss to order one. Scallop sashimi (RM 25) definitely wins our heart! It’s fresh and juicy.

Shiro Maguro (white tuna) RM22 just melted right in my mouth. How I wish to have more of that

Since there are 7 of us, it’s only 1 slice per person. That’s not enough, I want more!

Inaka Bento Set D consist of cod fish teriyaki, beef roll , bread crumb fried prawn. (RM 28.90). The side dishes that come with the bento set are miso soup, a bowl of white rice, chawanmushi and fruits. The cod fish is spoiled by the teriyaki sauce. All I tasted is the teriyaki sauce sweetness and no sweetness from the cod fish was found. I am disappointed with the cod fish.

Luckily the beef roll taste good! The beef tasted sweet and the enoki mushroom wrapped underneath it is so flavorful.

This Chinese New Year is like any other CNY. I went back to my hometown, reunion with hometown friends and family. Everything is joy for the one whole week at hometown except for the very limited internet connection. Been missing all the blogs updates.

My only option to online is by using Digi gprs signal. There’s no broadband signal. Imagine the speed of the connection… It’s just 113 kbps! Oh god!

Let’s start a New Year post with something good! Upon arriving at Taipei we were greeted by cool breeze as it’s winter and it was getting dark although it’s around 5pm. We were already starving after check in to Dandy Hotel.

Since Xi Men Ding is just 10 mins away from our hotel, we decided to go to Xi Men Ding to explore the food!

Upon arriving, my aunt is so excited to see white bitter gourd juice which tasted bitter with a hint of honey taste. Very good for cooling body heat but I don’t like it as I don’t fancy bitter food. :P

Ah Zhong Mian Xian (Ah Zhong Mee Suah) – one of the very famous food among Taiwan local people and tourist. I never expect to eat the mee suah in this way. Everyone is just standing in front of the shop eating their bowl of mee suah. There are so many people patronizing this shop.

Ah Zhong Mian Xian was founded since 1975 which is 35 years ago. The mee suah is pre-cooked in a big pot where the worker just scoop into a bowl and it’s ready to serve.

My bowl of mee suah with some pig intestine served together.

The seasoning (garlic oil, vinegar and chili oil) is placed in a nearby small counter where everyone help themselves with it. You can add the seasoning base on your liking.

Beware of the chili oil, just a small amount is enough to bring the spiciness.

Ah Zhong Mian Xian taste very different from our Shilin Oyster Mee Suah. Firstly there’s no oyster in Ah Zhong Mian Xian. Secondly the mian xian tasted very fragrant, I guess thanks to the pig’s intestine.

Refer to below picture for Ah Zhong Mian Xian business hour and price.

When I read about Lang Sae Lee Thai Food in Lingzie’s blog, I vowed to go there as I love Thai food especially those very spicy which make you sweat!

Lang Sae Lee Thai Food is located by Tan’s Jetty. The dining area is actually situated at the house compound area.

Upon seated, we were asked to order our drinks. Mdm Lee recommended us to try out her homemade Ribena. Don’t be surprise if you don’t taste any ‘Ribena Taste’ in the drink. It tasted more like sour plum drink. I like the taste of the drink, appetizing and refreshing on a hot sunny afternoon.

The menu is just a simple photo book. Looking at the photo menu already makes me drool.

I remember Lingzie said the fish cake tasted good, so we ordered fish cake too. And yes! The fish cake didn’t disappoint us. It’s full of kaffir leaves fragrant and the cucumber chili sauce goes well with it.

Whenever we eat Thai’s, we’ll definitely order Tom Yam Soup. It’s our favourite. A small bowl of Red Seafood Tom Yam Soup is just enough for 2 of us. Don’t you get deceive by the look of this bowl of tom yam. A first sip of the soup reveals the perfect level of spiciness and sourness (at least for me and my bf).

We just can’t stop drinking the soup, and the feeling of the warm stomach and the heat makes us sweat from inside is packed with omph! I love this!

Dry Curry Rich in Coconut and Basil Leave is very spicy. The first mouthful of this dish reveals a very heavy taste of kaffir leaves and spices which is a MUST to eat with white rice. When we swallowed it, the spiciness start to attack our throat. It’s a very special sensation.

This version is different from Maa Roy’s version. Maa Roy’s is so rich in coconut milk. If you ask me which is better, I feel that both has their uniqueness.

And this ended our first meal at Lang Sae Lee.

Birthday girl chose to have her birthday dinner at Manila Place, Gurney Plaza. Initially I suggested Chili’s hoping to give her a birthday surprise where the Chili’s Restaurant’s staff will sing her a birthday song and compliment her a birthday cake just like the Hard Rock Cafe Birthday Dinner.

But Birthday girl wanted to have light dinner and she prefer Manila Place. Well, birthday girl is the queen of the night right. So Manila Place it is.

Browsing thru the menu, I got attracted by the 100% fresh fruit juice with NO sugar added.

Birthday girl and me ordered Pineapple + guava + orange + lemon (if I remember correctly). It tasted sourish with minimal sweetness. So tasty yet healthy!

The carrot + lemon juice tasted weird Carrot taste does not blend with lemon.

Since birthday girl wanted to eat light, she ordered only sandwich. The sandwich is pretty standard. Oh! I love the side dish (potato wedges). The outer layer is very crispy and the inner potato is fluffy.

Seafood Tom Yam Noodle doesn’t disappoint us. The soup is sourish and not very spicy.

It comes with mussels, prawns, mushrooms and some chicken breast fillet.

My friend is so excited to see the big prawns and asked me to snap a picture of it.

I ordered fruit salad. I love this fruit salad especially the tangy orange like salad dressing. It’s very appetizing! The lettuce and fruits are fresh as well.

The restaurant is lighted with warm light and very comfortable to dine in. It’s a cosy place for a romantic couple dinner or a gathering dinner of friends and colleagues.

Even if you don’t really like greens as my bf, you definitely need to try this out! As the sambal rocks! It is so additive that I keep on dipping the cucumbers into the sambal.

Results?

A burning stomach in me.

We never fail to order tom yam whenever it comes to Thai food. It’s our favourite!

The Seafood Clear Tomyam Soup is very sour but not too spicy. It just suits my tastebud.

It’s served with generous ingredients; prawns, mushrooms, fish fillet, tomatoes and squids.

And the prawns was de-shell leh… So thoughtful of the cook!

The Mango Salad is garnished with cashew nuts, dried shrimps and onions. It’s one of my favourite dish in Thai Food.

It’s a drizzling morning on our 3rd day at Siem Reap. Our tour guide brought us to a coffee shop which serve famous Cambodia food.

Upon seated, we saw a few delicacies ready served on the table. Those delicacies looks like our dim sum. At first I thought those are free. But then only I found out that it’s not.

It’s like our local fried fritters (yau char kwai).

This is one of the famous dish in Cambodia, beef noodle soup. The soup base is extremely sweet to my liking. It’s like a mug of sugar was used to cook the soup.

Cambodia curry to go with baguette. The curry doesn’t taste spicy.

This is one of the famous dish in this Cambodia restaurant; roasted duck noodle. The soup base is too sweet (from seasoning I guess) to my liking.

Seems like all the soup base noodle in Cambodia tasted more to the sweet side.

The bean sprout was served aside, so it’s a good option for those who don’t like it.

The exterior as well as interior design of the restaurant is an impressive one. The tables set at the outside of the restaurant is best for drinking some beer with friend.

The interior is even better. There are tables set for 2 – 4 person. Will the dim yellow light, the feeling is so romantic.

I was back from a trip to Siem Reap 2 weeks ago. It was a good experiece to be able to see the ancient temples of Angkor and also the lifestyle of the people of Siem Reap.

We managed to grab some cheap air ticket from Air Asia to Siem Reap, but departure was from KL. We are lucky as we are able to grab some zero fare ticket to KL too which just cost us RM 60/pax for a 2-way trip. As for the 2-way ticket from KL – Siem Reap, it cost us RM 277 / pax.

Since we have a few hours transit at LCCT, we’ve booked Tune Hotel which is located just a few minutes away from LCCT. Since we booked the hotel during a promo period, it just cost us RM 14.00. The room is really small, just less than 1 feet distance away from the queen size bed which is located at the center of the room. But it’s a pretty good place to sleep for a few hours waiting for our flight tomorrow morning at 7am.

There’s a free bus shuttle from LCCT to Tune Hotel or you can opt for a van shuttle which cost RM 1 / pax.

The flight to Siem Reap take around 2 hours.

We rented a hostel near Old Market Area named I Lodge. USD 13 / night consider acceptable to us. There are a few types of rooms available. A standard room with a queen size bed or a room with 3 single beds. Both rooms are attached to a bathroom with water heater and are air-conditoned.

We arrived Siem Reap at 8am on 29/07/09. It took around 30 mins to reach our hostel from Siem Reap International Airport. The hostel guy picked us up with the hotel van.

The room is pretty spacious.

After we settled down at our hostel, we headed to hunt for our lunch. Our tour guide brought us to a nearby restaurant; LYLY Restaurant. The price for the food is pretty standard which is USD 2.00 for a plate of rice or a bowl of noodle.

Lok Lak Beef Rice – a local famous dish. It’s actually stir fried beef served with fried rice. My bf like the beef, but I find it a bit too raw and tad bland. The fried rice was pretty fragrant. I really like the texture of the rice in Cambodia, it has a smooth and slightly chewy texture which is pretty similar to glutinous rice texture.

Chicken rice which was pretty similar to the one we get here in Malaysia. But the chicken meat texture was quite dry and there’s no soup being served.

When I first stepped into the place, I was impressed by the “No Smoking” sign and the cleaniness of the place.

The waitress are dressed in uniform and very attentive. They would explain what kind of satay we ordered upon the serving. In addition, they will approach us in the middle of our meal to ask if we would like any additional order. How thoughtful they can be!

Black Pepper Chicken Satay Rice Set (RM 5.10) – You got to choose from nasi lemak, tomato rice or planta rice. The one below is nasi lemak.

The rice is slightly soft and well scented with coconut juice. The sambal on top goes well with the rice. Nothing too special to shout about, but it’s nice.

The black pepper chicken satay is good! Succulent, tender and well marinated meat with just the adequate black pepper taste.

Tomato Rice (RM 1.50) which fare pretty well too. Light aroma of spices in the rice.

Nasi himpit - for RM1.00, the portion is pretty generous. The nasi himpit is soft, most importantly without any uncooked rice in it.

And here comes the star of the meal – satay! We ordered lamb, vegetarian, prawn and chicken satay.

The lamb satay (RM 1.20) is succulent, tender and flavourful!

The vegetarian satay (RM 0.80) is just normal.

The prawn satay (RM 3.00) is the most expensive one in their menu. RM 3.00 per stick, but it taste good! Most importantly it’s de-shell, easy for consumption!

The chicken satay (RM 1.00) has succulent and tender meat too.

First of all, sorry for not updating my blog for a week. I was being kinda busy lately and so fed up with my work. Somehow, I found a way to pamper myself and to release all those anger and frustration. Guess what? I treated myself a wonderful dinner at Ryoma Japanese Restaurant.

First of all, sorry for not updating my blog for a week. I was being kinda busy lately and so fed up with my work. Somehow, I found a way to pamper myself and to release all those anger and frustration. Guess what? I treated myself a wonderful dinner at Ryoma Japanese Restaurant.

Ryoma Japanese Restaurant is offering a wide range of Japanese food and they do offer those premium kobe beef too. For beef lovers out there, you can visit this restaurant!

Testing out my photography skill. The lighting is quite dim, as I didn’t have a flash light, you will notice noise in my pictures.

Soft Shell Crab Handroll - Soft shell crab is one of my favourite when I have Japanese food. The portion of soft shell crab is generous, which I shouldn’t be making any comparison here as there’s a big different in price too.

Although the soft shell crab is deep fried, but it’s not oily but yet remain crunchy. I’ve once tasted a soggy and very oily soft shell crab. Yucks!

Gozen Salmon Sashimi - Besides the teriyaki chicken, omellete, tempura, mackerel, sashimi, chawan mushi and fruits, it comes with a bowl of rice and miso soup too.

The salmon sashimi is so fresh and it’s cut to a thick portion. But there’s only 3 pieces. Can I have more please?

I can’t take my camera off the sashimi trying my best to capture the juicy and fresh look of it. But seems like my photography skill needs lots of practices still
