Seems like it&#8217;s been quite sometime I didn&#8217;t post about koay teow teng ya . If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you&#8217;ll notice that there&#8217;s one period that I posted a lot on koay teow teng, that other bloggers gave me a nick name as koay teow teng queen.

<p>Seems like it&#8217;s been quite sometime I didn&#8217;t post about <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/category/hawker-food/koay-teow-teng/" target="_blank">koay teow teng </a>ya <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> . If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you&#8217;ll notice that there&#8217;s one period that I posted a lot on koay teow teng, that other bloggers gave me a nick name as <em>koay teow teng queen</em>. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Browsing thru my koay teow teng post, I realized how I miss the koay teow teng at <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/27/penang-hawker-food-koay-teow-teng-pulau-tikus-market/" target="_blank">Pulau Tikus Market</a>. Normally we didn&#8217;t really want to go to Pulau Tikus Market area due to the heavy traffic at the market area and it&#8217;s very hard to get a parking.</p>
<p>But when we are craving for that particular food so much, the traffic and parking doesn&#8217;t really matter, right?</p>
<p>Koay Teow Teng alone is just too plain to serve as our breakfast. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>So we ordered char koay kak. This char koay kak is good! Full of wok hei and very flavourful.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Koay Kak 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4304039656_445f49c4d8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p><span id="more-2079"></span>Comparable with the one at <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/11/02/best-char-koay-kak-in-penang/" target="_blank">Burmah Road</a> which is selling at night. We always request for more preserved raddish when we order char koay kak. It adds flavour to the plain koay kak.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Koay Kak 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2748/4303295231_043d12430c_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>Here comes my favourite bowl of koay teow teng. I love the peppery soup base, and the fragrant from the coriander leaves. OH! The perfect match!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2762/4304040360_9f13912709_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>Mine is always without the fried garlic oil.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4072/4304040714_8a81c2d8d8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>My bf is a fishball lover, so he order an additional bowl of fishball soup. The fish ball is quite good, slightly springy and very smooth in texture.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Fish Ball Soup" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4304041102_cf58cf04c4_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>We passed by this roasted pork stall when we enter the place to have koay teow teng. The roasted meat hanging by the stall is so alluring. We really can&#8217;t stand any temptation. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>End up, we bought some <em>char siew</em> (roasted BBQ pork) and <em>siew yuk</em> (roasted pork belly). Both of them tasted equally good. A good breakfast companion. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Siew" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/4303296827_5c32854882_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>Click <a href="http://maps.google.com.my/maps/ms?hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=106046132529307654556.000465f421cc0a1f1a163&amp;ll=5.4311,100.312573&amp;spn=0.001485,0.002411&amp;z=19&amp;iwloc=000465f4239ba0dc06015" target="_blank">here </a>for map and <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/27/penang-hawker-food-koay-teow-teng-pulau-tikus-market/" target="_blank">here </a>for direction to the koay teow teng stall as it&#8217;s located quite deep into the market.</p>

<p>This is one of the <strong>BEST char koay kak</strong> I&#8217;ve tasted so far! The stall is located in front<strong> SJK Union school</strong> along <strong>Burmah Road</strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Union School Char Koay Kak Stall " src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2733/4059745161_dcf6123648_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="367" /></p>

<p>The koay kak pieces is smaller compare to the other stalls that I&#8217;ve tried before. Therefore, each and every pieces of the koay kak is <strong>very flavourful</strong>. Not forgetting the lard, it definitely brings the char koay kak to the <strong>ultimate taste</strong>!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Union School Char Koay Kak 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2630/4060488766_2f1687ac3d_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="804" /></p>
<p>You won&#8217;t be able to find a single pieces of white koay kak here. Every pieces is coated with flavour. The only drawback is that the char koay kak is <strong>tad oily</strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Union School Char Koay Kak 3" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2803/4059745751_2005a1bded_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="804" /></p>
<p>Click here for map. This stall is just located next to <strong><a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/06/26/apong-guan-penang-hawker-food/" target="_blank">Apong Guan</a></strong><a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/06/26/apong-guan-penang-hawker-food/" target="_blank"> </a>stall which sells the <strong>best apong</strong> in Penang. Best char koay kak with best apong!</p>
<p>Business hour: 7.0opm &#8211; 10.00pm (Closed on Saturday &amp; Sunday)</p>

It&#8217;s always a happy day during weekend as it&#8217;s a non working day. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> Normally we would drive to town area for late breakfast. This is one of my <strong>favourite</strong> place for breakfast, the food are great and there are lots of choices.</p>
<p>My favourite would be <strong>curry mee</strong>. This curry mee stall has been featured by R<strong>asa Rasa Penang</strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Curry Mee Stall" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3617/3319116071_1a14ed436e_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>
<p><span id="more-760"></span></p>
<p>It&#8217;s just a very simple bowl of curry mee with some long beans, marinated squid and bean curd. From the picture you also will know that this is my bowl of curry mee as you can&#8217;t see any cockles and pig&#8217;s blood. Yaya&#8230; I know you are going to say I just missed the best part of curry mee right? All my friends and colleagues also said the same thing everytime I eat curry mee with them. hehe&#8230;</p>
<p>What to do? I just don&#8217;t fancy those 2 ingredients and my health also won&#8217;t tolerate me to eat any cockles. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Curry Mee 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3544/3319116079_e6c57d55aa_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="363" /></p>
<p>The soup base was very fragrant. The soup base is not as white as Air Itam Sister Curry Mee. As for the chili, <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/02/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-air-itam-curry-mee/" target="_blank">Air Itam Sister Curry Mee </a>is much spicier. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Curry Mee 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3302/3319116073_5184260df5_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>
<p>Although it&#8217;s not the first time I eat here, but it&#8217;s my first time to order <strong>char koay kak</strong>. It&#8217;s fragrant with adequate wok hei. The char koay kak is more to slighty <strong>wet version</strong>. There is a generous amount of pickle raddish which is to my liking.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Char Koay Kak" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3473/3319121503_a3cab088df_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="363" /></p>
<p>Another of my must order food when I visit this place. <strong>Pancake</strong>. This pancake is fried with egg, raisin, banana &amp; sesame until fragrant. The sweetness of banana and raisins go well with the flour. The outer layer of this pancake is fried until golden brown which enhance the fragrant. The one that I had at <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-top-taste-hokkien-mee/" target="_blank">Sin Kim San </a>coffee shop is not comparable to this. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Pancake" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3582/3319116081_d0b017b93c_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="363" /></p>
<p>This coffee shop is always crowded with people everytime I pay a visit here. Guess must be due to the good food huh. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' />  </p>
<p>Click<a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?source=s_q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;g=pulau+tikus+penang&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=106046132529307654556.00046551e04326f69d835&amp;ll=5.433514,100.312278&amp;spn=0.005501,0.009656&amp;z=17" target="_blank"> here </a>for map.</p>
