<p>Seems like it&#8217;s been quite sometime I didn&#8217;t post about <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/category/hawker-food/koay-teow-teng/" target="_blank">koay teow teng </a>ya <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> . If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you&#8217;ll notice that there&#8217;s one period that I posted a lot on koay teow teng, that other bloggers gave me a nick name as <em>koay teow teng queen</em>. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Browsing thru my koay teow teng post, I realized how I miss the koay teow teng at <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/27/penang-hawker-food-koay-teow-teng-pulau-tikus-market/" target="_blank">Pulau Tikus Market</a>. Normally we didn&#8217;t really want to go to Pulau Tikus Market area due to the heavy traffic at the market area and it&#8217;s very hard to get a parking.</p>
<p>But when we are craving for that particular food so much, the traffic and parking doesn&#8217;t really matter, right?</p>
<p>Koay Teow Teng alone is just too plain to serve as our breakfast. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>So we ordered char koay kak. This char koay kak is good! Full of wok hei and very flavourful.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Koay Kak 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4304039656_445f49c4d8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p><span id="more-2079"></span>Comparable with the one at <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/11/02/best-char-koay-kak-in-penang/" target="_blank">Burmah Road</a> which is selling at night. We always request for more preserved raddish when we order char koay kak. It adds flavour to the plain koay kak.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Koay Kak 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2748/4303295231_043d12430c_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>Here comes my favourite bowl of koay teow teng. I love the peppery soup base, and the fragrant from the coriander leaves. OH! The perfect match!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2762/4304040360_9f13912709_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>Mine is always without the fried garlic oil.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4072/4304040714_8a81c2d8d8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>My bf is a fishball lover, so he order an additional bowl of fishball soup. The fish ball is quite good, slightly springy and very smooth in texture.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Fish Ball Soup" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4304041102_cf58cf04c4_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>We passed by this roasted pork stall when we enter the place to have koay teow teng. The roasted meat hanging by the stall is so alluring. We really can&#8217;t stand any temptation. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>End up, we bought some <em>char siew</em> (roasted BBQ pork) and <em>siew yuk</em> (roasted pork belly). Both of them tasted equally good. A good breakfast companion. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Siew" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/4303296827_5c32854882_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>Click <a href="http://maps.google.com.my/maps/ms?hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=106046132529307654556.000465f421cc0a1f1a163&amp;ll=5.4311,100.312573&amp;spn=0.001485,0.002411&amp;z=19&amp;iwloc=000465f4239ba0dc06015" target="_blank">here </a>for map and <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/27/penang-hawker-food-koay-teow-teng-pulau-tikus-market/" target="_blank">here </a>for direction to the koay teow teng stall as it&#8217;s located quite deep into the market.</p>

Suprise to see a <strong>&#8216;yau char kwai&#8217;</strong> picture after you read the title of my post? Well&#8230; I was shocked too when I was served with a bowl of yau char kwai when I ordered koay teow teng (ktt). The yau char kwai serves the same purpose as in bah kut teh.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Evergreen Cafe Fried Fritters" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3526/3715995015_01b200741c_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p><span id="more-1289"></span></p>
<p>We stumbled across this cafe during one of our food hunting trip and those stacks of &#8216;<strong>chinese rooster bowl</strong>&#8216; attracted me into the cafe.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="DSC_5427" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3422/3715995057_060fce21cc_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p><strong>Koay teow teng</strong> with pieces of chicken meat, duck meat, some fish balls and meat balls. When we ordered, we mentioned to omit out the innards.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Evergreen Cafe Koay Teow Teng 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2473/3715995035_0d650b7ee3_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>The soup base is packed with pork taste comparing to <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/02/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-curry-mee-koay-teow-teng-jln-samak/" target="_blank">Jalan Samak ktt</a> which the soup base has more chicken flavour. The yau char kwai dipped into the soup is something new to me, it&#8217;s somehow an acquired taste. I still prefer yau char kawi to be dipped into bah kut teh soup.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Evergreen Cafe Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2664/3715995039_688d2a4797_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>This is how a normal bowl of koay teow teng would look like with the innards included. There are so much ingredients available, looks so yummy to me although I don&#8217;t fancy innards.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Evergreen Cafe Koay Teow Teng 3" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2616/3716816960_55c7ec61a9_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>I ordered <strong>bee tai bak soup</strong> without any garlic oil and spring onions added which make it looks like it&#8217;s suitable for a sick person. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Evergreen Cafe Bee Tai Bak Soup 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2661/3715995047_d3b415c481_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>There are some pork slices and chicken slices. The soup base is rather <strong>salty</strong> compare to the koay teow teng soup base.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Evergreen Cafe Bee Tai Bak Soup 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2546/3715995051_7052af1a3d_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>The <strong>Evergreen Cafe</strong> is located directly opposite this Hutton Lane Car Park building.</p>

I was craving for the frog porridge at <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2008/11/chinese-food/penang-food-frog-porridge-sin-geylang/" target="_blank">Sin Geylang</a>. But unfortunately when we arrived, the shop was closed. Oops&#8230; it&#8217;s Wednesday. The shop is closed that day. Too bad. Since we were already very hungry, we just stopped by somewhere near to grab something to fill our stomach.</p>
<p><strong>Sin Kim San</strong> Coffee shop where the delicious <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-top-taste-hokkien-mee/" target="_blank">Top Taste hokkien mee</a> is being served in the morning,  is serving a wide variety of hawker food at night. We are spoilt by too many choices of hawker food available. Ended up, no idea what to order.</p>
<p>My bf ordered a bowl of<strong> k</strong><strong>oay teow teng</strong>. Soup base is clear with average sweetness. The fish ball has springy texture, the way I like my fishball to be.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sin Kim San Koay Teow Teng" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2484/3694383970_7039f42ba0_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p><span id="more-1285"></span></p>
<p>If I recall my memory correctly, someone left a comment in my blog recommended the<strong> BBQ chicken wing</strong> at this coffee shop. There are 2 stalls selling BBQ chicken wing. Wondering which is the good one, we were considering which stall shall we choose. Later on, we noticed that there&#8217;s one only stall selling, another stall is just starting to burn up the charcoal. So, we were just left with one and only choice.</p>
<p>The BBQ chicken wing looks nice with shinning skin, thanks to honey and perfect timing of BBQ. The meat is well marinated and outer layer tasted sweet but my bf complained that its inner part was not hot enough. Just like it had been took out from the fire for quite sometime. That&#8217;s the only drawback of it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sin Kim San BBQ Chicken Wing" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2473/3694384010_b236cc87d4_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>The <strong>chee cheung fun</strong> is floaded with prawn paste which is too much to my liking. But my bf said it&#8217;s nice. The chili with dried shrimp was good. Perfect to go with the bland ccf.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sin Kim San Chee Cheung Fun" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3537/3694384016_1714571648_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>This emporer card board attracted my attention. I was attracted by the &#8216;<strong>fried emperor noodle</strong>&#8216; which was translated into &#8216;fried egg noodle&#8217; in English.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sin Kim San Fried Egg Noodle 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2610/3694383962_819e506abf_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>When the noodle was served, I felt pretty satisfy as there are lots of side ingredients accompanying the noodle. The crab tofu is &#8216;planted&#8217; on a crab shell and the &#8216;tofu&#8217; part is made up of crabstick, minced meat and flour. It tasted quite good. There are a few pieces of fried chicken with well marinated meat. But the salad accompanying the noodle seems like don&#8217;t really match the noodle. The noodle itself has a crunchy texture.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s something new which worth trying.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sin Kim San Fried Egg Noodle 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3583/3694383972_713596f8ed_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>Click<a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&amp;hl=en&amp;msa=0&amp;ll=5.433418,100.332899&amp;spn=0.02119,0.038581&amp;z=15&amp;msid=106046132529307654556.00046e0b04d4db9eb6b99" target="_blank"> here</a> for map.</p>

<br />
This is a common place for <strong>Bayan Lepas </strong>workers. <strong>Sri Nibong Cafe </strong>is a corner lot coffee shop which is located at Sri Nibong opposite Ayer Cafe. When I first started to work at Phase 1 FIZ, my colleagues introduced this place to me. They told me the <strong>instant cook koay teow teng</strong> and the <strong>wan tan mee</strong> here taste good. This coffee shop is always full of people especially during breakfast and lunch hour. The environment is pretty warm and heaty which is the one thing that I don&#8217;t like about this place. </p>
<p>Minced meat, fish ball, slices of fish cake and a runny egg are the ingredients used to cook the koay teow teng. I personally feel that the quality has deteriorated over the years I&#8217;ve patronized this stall. Sometimes the koay teow used are in small pieces instead of flat long strand. Basically we have to use spoon to scoop the koay teow. Nothing much to shout about the soup base. My favourite would still be the one at <strong><a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/04/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-instant-cook-koay-teow-teng-kimberley-street/" target="_blank">Seng Thor Coffee Shop</a></strong> which of the soup base is definitely worth mentioning. </p>
<p>The runny egg is the only thing I like in this bowl of koay teow teng. Sound so pathetic huh. Well, this is just my personal taste ya. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sri Nibong Cafe Koay Teow Teng" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3360/3516927103_4dc4aff72c_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p><span id="more-1034"></span></p>
<p>However, the <strong>wan tan mee</strong> is still maintaining the standard and the quality. The noodle is rather <strong>thin</strong> comparing to <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/01/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-24-hours-wan-tan-mee/" target="_blank">24hours wan tan mee</a> or the one at <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/01/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-curry-mee-wantan-mee-chulia-street/" target="_blank">Chulia Street</a>. It&#8217;s almost similar to the one at <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/04/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-wan-tan-mee-eng-loh-coffee-shop/" target="_blank">Eng Loh Coffee Shop</a>. Noodle texture is <strong>rather chewy </strong>and without any lye taste, the way I like my noodle to be. </p>

Recently I am so into <strong>koay teow teng</strong>. My favourite would be the one at <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-koay-teow-teng-pulau-tikus-market/" target="_blank">Pulau Tikus Market</a> and at <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/02/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-curry-mee-koay-teow-teng-jln-samak/" target="_blank">Jalan Samak</a>. Both soup base tasted good.</p>
<p>This koay teow teng is slighty different from both mentioned above as this is <strong>instant cook type</strong>. It&#8217;s located at <strong>Seng Thor Coffee Shop</strong> at <strong>Kimberley Street</strong>.</p>
<p>My bowl of <strong>instant cook koay teow teng</strong> which you can see it&#8217;s floaded with ingredients. There are some <strong>minced meat, pork liver, fishball</strong> and <strong>sliced pork</strong> in it. With only <strong>RM 3</strong> a bowl, it&#8217;s really a steal!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Seng Thor Koay Teow Teng 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3610/3401097025_58cc3b7f63_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p><span id="more-822"></span></p>
<p>Other than ingredients, the soup base is very important in a bowl of koay teow teng. This <strong>soup base</strong> tasted<strong> sweet</strong> and it&#8217;s not those from seasoning. The pork liver was cook with the <strong>perfect timing</strong> as the texture is soft and succulent. Those over cooked one tasted hard. There a few pieces of pork liver in it. As I&#8217;m not so fond of it, I was not able to finish it. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Seng Thor Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3644/3401173871_f504a4db15_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>When we entered this coffee shop, we saw quite a number of tables with<strong> lor mee</strong> on it. First thing that came into our mind was, so many people order, sure good one. So, without hesistation we placed our order. Kiasu? Haha&#8230; For me, the loh mee tasted pretty <strong>normal</strong>. The broth was pretty thick.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Seng Thor Lor Mee 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3609/3401173859_1bb6f2c3ff_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>I do not know how to judge a bowl of good lor mee as there&#8217;s no lor mee in my hometown. I only got expose to it when I came to Penang. Any advise from local how to <strong>judge a bowl of good lor mee</strong>?</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Seng Thor Lor Mee 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3651/3401097019_b19c188022_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>

<br />
On one Sunday morning, CL overheard me on the phone with a friend of mine. She called to ask where can she gets a bowl of nice<strong> koay teow teng</strong> (ktt). She&#8217;s thinking to go over to try out the <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2008/11/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-armenian-street-koay-teow-teng/" target="_blank">Pitt Street ktt</a> but I pointed out that I prefer the one at<a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/02/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-curry-mee-koay-teow-teng-jln-samak/" target="_blank"> Jalan Samak</a> more.</p>
<p>When I hung up with her, CL asked me whether have I tried the ktt at <strong>Pulau Tikus Market</strong>. I was like&#8230; huh? I never heard anyone talked about a bowl of good ktt at Pulau Tikus Market. CL said I really should try it out as he himself likes it a lot. CL offered to bring us there for the ktt and we accepted the offer happily. I&#8217;m sure happy as can try out new food. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>My bowl of ktt with <strong>added fish balls </strong>(7 of them). A normal bowl will have 2 pcs of fish balls. The ingredients are pretty normal where they are a few slices of meat and fish cake. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3576/3384686405_a3f8cc444c_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p><span id="more-809"></span></p>
<p>The soup base was <strong>sweet</strong> and tasted <strong>peppery</strong>. Ktt soup base taste peppery. Does that sound weird to you? But I like how it taste like. <strong>Sweet and peppery soup base</strong>, worth mentioning. A sprinkle of <strong>coriander leaves</strong> on top added fragrant to the ktt.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 1 " src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3586/3384686395_112cf24a66_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>The <strong>fish balls</strong> texture was smooth and tasted <strong>QQ </strong>too.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 3" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3578/3384686411_b3d62dbe3c_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>The <strong>hokkien mee</strong> that we ordered was slightly too oily for my liking but my bf said it&#8217;s ok for him. The chili tasted quite spicy. There are some <strong>water convolvulus</strong> (kangkung) in it which is hardly to be found in hokkien mee nowadays. This one tasted <strong>pretty normal </strong>to me. My preference would still be the <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/02/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-hokkien-mee-presgrave-street/" target="_blank">Presgrave Street Hokkien Mee </a>which is available at night time. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Hokkien Mee 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3663/3384671325_94afec388c_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>The <strong>portion</strong> is kinda <strong>big</strong> for me. Normally hokkien mee serving portion in Penang is small. In fact most of the hawker food serving is small in Penang. The good part is you get to try a few types of hawker food at the same time due to the small portion. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Hokkien Mee 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3433/3384686363_56fa0c7cd5_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>A nutritious drink for breakfast -<strong> Soy Bean Drink</strong>. I like this as the soy bean drink is <strong>thick enough</strong> that you can taste the <strong>bean fragrant</strong>. I like mine added with <strong>brown sugar</strong>, it added more fragrant to the drink. Talking about it, making me craving for a cup of soy bean drink now.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Soy Bean Drink" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3543/3384686415_945e47f2c5_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>There are 2 ktt stalls in this area. The one that I had is the one with <strong>red wording</strong> &#8211; do take note ya ;)</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng Stall" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3448/3384671309_4afb39b336_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>The hokkien mee stall.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Hokkien Mee Stall" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/3384671319_37cfe60334_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="802" /></p>
<p>Let me guide you to this place. When you reach the Pulau Tikus Market, look for this stall selling roasted chicken and pork. There&#8217;s a small lane beside the stall. Walked along the small lane. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3592/3384671297_9bb5f36f56_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="368" /></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll see stalls selling clothes and accessories. </p>

<p>Walk further in and you&#8217;ll see this&#8230; the makan area <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  </p>

Weekend is always a food hunt day. Our food hunt continue after <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/01/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-ah-leng-char-koay-teow-re-visited/" target="_blank">Ah Leng Char Koay Teow</a>. This stall just located very near to the ckt stall. It&#8217;s located opposite the Esso petrol station, just beside a Chinese temple.</p>
<p>This stall has been in operation since 1980. Normal business hour is from <strong>7.30am &#8211; 10.30am</strong>. But once in a while you can be lucky just like us, who get to eat at 12pm. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3513/3292128275_e47e46e246_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="363" /></p>
<p>The curry mee soup base look so <strong>white</strong> when the chili is not being mixed into it. But it&#8217;s very<strong> fragrant</strong> with just the adequate amount of coconut juice.</p>
<p><span id="more-441"></span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Jalan Samak Curry Mee 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3493/3292128293_75bd9e803b_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>
<p>The chili was not as spicy as <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2009/02/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-air-itam-curry-mee/">Sister Curry Mee</a> at Air Itam.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Jalan Samak Curry Mee 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3464/3292128299_073d47dbc9_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Jalan Samak Curry Mee 3" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3533/3292128301_0a8f47fd10_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>
<p>Koay teow teng (ktt) soup base was <strong>very sweet</strong>. It was cooked with lots of <strong>chicken bone</strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Jalan Samak Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3510/3292128287_83d72e0d95_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>
<p>Comparing to <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2008/11/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-armenian-street-koay-teow-teng/">Armenian Street Koay Teow Teng</a>, this soup base tasted more thick in the sweetness. The sweetness is not those from seasoning or flavouring. Armenian Street ktt soup base is more clear.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Jalan Samak Koay Teow Teng 1" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/3292128283_bec494cb59_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="803" /></p>

<p>This stall closed on 1st and 15th day of lunar calendar every month.</p>

<p>There one stall just by the roadside a little further away from Super Tanker (to Sunshine Lip Sin direction) selling thumbs up tomyam noodle.<br />
<a><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278920128880570962" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 490px; cursor: hand; height: 359px; text-align: center;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ldrsEsANN94/SUJ942eV8lI/AAAAAAAAB4Y/4iEzNy2O5PM/s800/DSC_0804+copy.jpg" border="0" alt="Lip Sin Tom Yam Noodle Stall" /></a></p>
<p>See my bowl of red hot tomyam&#8230; The tomyam tasted spicy and sour. Good to have it on rainy days as it&#8217;ll warm you up. I like the minced meat which served in the tomyam. It&#8217;s marinated with the right flavour.</p>
<p><a><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278920125942439330" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 490px; cursor: hand; height: 359px; text-align: center;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ldrsEsANN94/SUJ94rh1naI/AAAAAAAAB4Q/-gAocgSdBDg/s800/DSC_0810+copy.jpg" border="0" alt="Lip Sin Tom Yam Noodle 1" /></a><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278945134007993826" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 490px; cursor: hand; height: 359px; text-align: center;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ldrsEsANN94/SUKUoV1SxeI/AAAAAAAAB5E/-ajrdG6yHJQ/s800/DSC_0811+copy.jpg" border="0" alt="Lip Sin Tom Yam Noodle 2" /><a></a>Koay teow teng is an alternate choice if you don&#8217;t take spicy food. The soup is sweet but it is a bit oily. It&#8217;s served with some fishball. This bowl has extra fishball added.</p>
<p>To my preference, <a href="http://alliefoodtalk.com/2008/11/hawker-food/penang-hawker-food-armenian-street-koay-teow-teng/" target="_blank">Armenian Street Koay Teow Teng</a> is more to my tastebud as the soup base is clear and sweet.</p>

<p>The ktt come with 4 pcs of fish ball, thinly slice duck meat and pork. The fish ball taste good. It&#8217;s hand made by the stall owner. The soup base is cooked with chickens, therefore it tasted sweet.</p>
<p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266689516777724642" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 430px; cursor: hand; height: 299px; text-align: center;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ldrsEsANN94/SRcKNh3PWuI/AAAAAAAABOA/Vsx5KUx4m3o/s800/DSC_0454.JPG" border="0" alt="Armenian Street Koay Teow Teng 1" /></p>
<p>We&#8217;ve ordered another bowl of fishball as I just love fishballs. There are total of 9 pcs of fishballs.<br />
