Cambodia (Siem Reap Trip) – Day 1

I was back from a trip to Siem Reap 2 weeks ago. It was a good experiece to be able to see the ancient temples of Angkor and also the lifestyle of the people of Siem Reap.

We managed to grab some cheap air ticket from Air Asia to Siem Reap, but departure was from KL. We are lucky as we are able to grab some zero fare ticket to KL too which just cost us RM 60/pax for a 2-way trip. As for the 2-way ticket from KL – Siem Reap, it cost us RM 277 / pax.

Since we have a few hours transit at LCCT, we’ve booked Tune Hotel which is located just a few minutes away from LCCT. Since we booked the hotel during a promo period, it just cost us RM 14.00. The room is really small, just less than 1 feet distance away from the queen size bed which is located at the center of the room. But it’s a pretty good place to sleep for a few hours waiting for our flight tomorrow morning at 7am.

There’s a free bus shuttle from LCCT to Tune Hotel or you can opt for a van shuttle which cost RM 1 / pax.

Cia Xiang Seafood Restaurant | Penang Restaurant

I am back from Cambodia! It was a great trip except that I got tanned by the hot sun. Being away from home, definitely does make me miss local food; Laksa, hokkien mee, char koay teow, wan tan mee, etc. just name it, I’ve had it all after I touched down. Having those hawker food is not enough to satisfy my craving for local food. Just when I’m thinking of seafood, our friend ask us to join them to try out the claypot crab rice. They have been wanting to try it out since they read in a forwarded email of Cia Xiang Claypot Crab Rice posted by CK.

Without any consideration, we agreed. And so off we go to Simpang Empat for Claypot Crab Rice with high expectation in our mind.

Ipoh Dim Sum @ Yoke Fook Moon

Last Saturday, we drove to KL to watch the Manchester United Asia Tour. I am definitely not a football fan, but my bf is. We stopped by Ipoh for dim sum. We are spoilt by choices, 3 major dim sum restaurants are located at the same area which are Foh San, Yoke Fook Moon and Ming Court.

Hmm… which one to choose? I went to Foh San just before it moved to the new grand restaurant. My family and I actually feel that the dim sum don’t taste as good as before, but still the restaurant is swarming with people. Although the new Foh San restaurant looks so grand, but we finally picked Yoke Fook Moon.

Dining at Yoke Fook Moon brings back some of my childhood memory where I aged around 10 years old. My uncle (oh… I stayed with my aunt and uncle when I was small), would dragged us up at 6am and drove us to Ipoh Yoke Fook Moon for dim sum. Me with my eyes half closed would be ‘forced’ into the car. LOL

Yoke Fook Moon Restaurant outlook doesn’t stand out if compare to Foh San, but the dim sum won’t disappoint you for sure :)

Chee Cheung Fun @ Genting Coffee Shop | Penang Hawker Food

Genting Coffee Shop chee cheung fun (ccf) is so famous for its peanut flavour prawn paste sauce. Although I’ve been blogging for more than 1 year, I’ve yet to post about this ccf. Finally I’ve got my feet to Genting Coffee Shop.

The ccf stall was swarming with people. We’ve overheard the owner of the stall saying that if we would want the ccf fast, it’s better to get the ccf ourselves. Means self service. :)

Koay Teow Teng @ Evergreen Cafe ; Penang Hawker Food

Suprise to see a ‘yau char kwai’ picture after you read the title of my post? Well… I was shocked too when I was served with a bowl of yau char kwai when I ordered koay teow teng (ktt). The yau char kwai serves the same purpose as in bah kut teh.

Fried Emperor Noodle ; Penang Hawker Food

I was craving for the frog porridge at Sin Geylang. But unfortunately when we arrived, the shop was closed. Oops… it’s Wednesday. The shop is closed that day. Too bad. Since we were already very hungry, we just stopped by somewhere near to grab something to fill our stomach.

Sin Kim San Coffee shop where the delicious Top Taste hokkien mee is being served in the morning,  is serving a wide variety of hawker food at night. We are spoilt by too many choices of hawker food available. Ended up, no idea what to order.

My bf ordered a bowl of koay teow teng. Soup base is clear with average sweetness. The fish ball has springy texture, the way I like my fishball to be.
